Setting your brand voice
How Cortex writes messages in your tone, and how to change the rules it follows.
Cortex writes each message in the tone you set and checks it against your rules before it goes out.
What your brand voice covers
- The tone, such as encouraging and warm, or short and direct.
- Your rules: a word list of terms you never want in a message, and offers Cortex shouldn't make without your say-so, such as a discount.
Setting it up
Your account team sets up your brand voice with you before launch, using your brand guidelines and examples of messages you've already sent. Real messages you've sent help most.
Changing it later
Contact your account team with what you want changed. A short example helps: a message Cortex sent and how you'd have written it.
Messages your team writes
When you write a message yourself in Notifications, you can pick the tone for that message. Cortex can also write a draft for you to edit.
Tip
Read a week of Cortex's messages after launch. If one doesn't sound like you, send it to your account team so the rules can be tightened.
